Getting Started #
You’ve made the big purchase and now you need to create your company in Vista.
There are over 250 setup Tables that could require setup depending on your organization. Vista only offers import templates for 36 of those Tables. TAD offers all of them.
In total, Vista has 113 import templates for setup and batch tables. TAD has 1050+ import templates.
Comparing Import Steps #
The lists below show the import steps of Vista and TAD.
Vista Import Steps
- Format Data in Excel
- Save as CSV/TXT file
- Configure IM Template to match your CSV/TXT file
- Use IM Import
- Review IM Work Edit
- Use IM Upload
- If you receive errors, you have to open your Excel workbook, fix the errors and repeat the steps above. You may receive a new error and have to repeat the steps again.
TAD Import Steps
- Format Data in Excel
- Validate Import
- If you receive errors, you fix the errors and Validate Import again (bulk or individual records)
- Execute Import
TAD has the following validations occur during Step #2 on the TAD Import Steps. You wouldn’t know some of these until Step #6 on the Vista Import Steps.
- Required columns missing values
- Values exceed length of column
- Invalid number or date values
- Numbers outside allowable range
- Duplicate records
TAD allows you to test the import on a handful of records to see if you’re on the right track. Vista is bulk import, cross your fingers, and hope a value will default for every column.
Company Copy Template #
You’ve gone through months of testing and it’s now time to go live. The Company Copy template gives you the ability to copy your Test company settings to your Live company. You control what tables are copied and you can also get rid of the “example” records that are preloaded in the Test company.
Have multiple companies? This feature alone is worth the cost of TAD.
TAD Converter #
The Converter is a process that will copy and transpose your source data into the Vista tables. You can press F4 to lookup Default Values from Vista, create Cross References and Remove Characters.
Build and test the process during your implementation phase to make your go live phase much easier. There is nothing worse than being unprepared during go live week.
The example below copies Sage Vendor data into the Vista Vendor table.
